How To Promote Business

Michael Martinez inspired me to launch a website about "how to promote business" with one of his recent blog posts. (It was recent at the time of this writing anyway.) That blog post can be found here: How To Promote Business. According to his blog post, this phrase generates a couple thousand searches a month in Google, but almost no one is optimizing specifically for the phrase "how to promote business". So I thought I was as qualified as anyone to write about the subject, and possibly more qualified than some. My name is Randy Ray, and I used to do SEO for PokerStars, as well as being in the affiliate marketing department at Hotels.com before that. So I have some background about how to promote those specific business uses those specific business promotion techniques.

Michael thinks that most people who search for the phrase "how to promote business" are actually interested in learning how to promote their businesses online, but I also own a bookstore which I promote offline as well as off the Internet. So I have a little bit of experience in promoting businesses both online and on the Internet. Michael also suggested that this particular query, and other queries like it, are an Adsense publisher's dream. So I'm going to include some Adsense on the site too.

It's easier for me to talk about things I don't like to do when promoting a business than it is to talk about the things I do like to do. Some of the business promotion techniques I don't like to use include:

So if you want to sum up how I actually DO promote businesses, you'd probably say that I launch straightforward, no-hype, inexpensive promotion campaigns that purposely underpromise and overdeliver. My preferred method of promoting a business is to launch an information-based site which gets a lot of traffic from people searching for specific answers to specific questions. This kind of website draws in a lot of natural search engine traffic, which gets a lot of eyeballs looking at my business. I try not to hype my business promotion efforts too much; I prefer to tell people in pretty specific terms what my business offers them, who's a good fit as my customers, where they can reach me or buy my stuff, and so on.

Future articles will cover some of the following subjects:

You'll notice that this website design is pretty plain. That's intentional. I don't think a snazzy, fancy, flashy design is at all necessary to create a high-traffic, useful website, and this site is going to be a living example of that design mentality.

I don't know how often I'll update this site, but maybe I'll start updating it pretty often, since I think it's a pretty cool subject.
